August 30 - September 5

Monday August 30 I subbed in Band all day. I had a great time with the students that day and even got to have Rachel twice since she had band appreciation and 7th grade band both first semester. After school Rachel had practice and I ran the littles home before going back to school to get Rachel for Piano, while I was gone Becca made dinner. She made some penne pasta with sauce and corn on the cob. Pat and Wanda came out for supper and we all enjoyed a great meal after Piano. Tuesday I took the kids to school then ran to town and did some errands before coming home to pick the garden. I then worked around the house and Trisha picked up littles after school. I then went back to the school that evening for the volleyball game to sell buckets for Teammates.

Wednesday I took the kids to school then Simba to the vet for his shots. He hates being in the car and meows the whole time but did really well at the vet. After the vet we came home and I made spaghetti sauce and chili base with the tomatoes I picked the day before. After school I picked up kids and we came home for awhile before heading back to Hershey for the back to school mass and pot luck BBQ.

Thursday I took the kids to school then went to town to get my labs drawn to make sure my Thyroid meds were still the right dose. I then came home to clean before going to Hershey to sub at 2. That night we didn't have any activities and we were all ready for bed early. Friday I subbed in 4th grade all day and then brought the kids home after school. I then went back to Hershey to sell buckets for Teammates at the softball game. Our team did not win but they are very young this year. After the game I came home and mowed and finished just before it got dark.

Saturday I went to hobby lobby in the morning to get things to make galaxy shirts for Homecoming week. That afternoon Missy came over and we bleached some shirts for the girls. We then watched the Nebraska game while Mike was on call. That evening we went to church and then out to supper with Marty and Lisa. Sunday Becca left early for the state fair with her friend Josie. They had a great time and a full day. I spent part of the day pulling weeds and getting ready for mulch. That afternoon after Mike got home we went over to DeMoude's and picked up a pallet of mulch. We then spent the evening watching a movie.

August 30 - Tell about an incident when your mom or dad was very angry with you. Mom and I argued a lot as I liked to talk back, but I can't remember a time that we got into a huge argument.

August 31 - Shar a memory involving and outhouse. We had an outhouse in our yard for a few years when I was little. It was white with black letters. We didn't use it much as it was dark in there and lots of spiders.

September

1 - Do you remember any Labor Day traditions of your youth? We usually went to Valentine so the adults could golf in a golf tournament and we would babysit for the Barney's and the Murphy's. Then the younger generation started golfing in the tournament. Then they closed the course so we just started spending the weekend at Tim and Laurie's going to the river and the guys still golf.

2 - Do you have a memory involving V.J. Day? Not even sure what that day is so I will say NO.

3 - Tell about your school year calendar. We usually started around the 1st of September. Got our for 2.5 weeks for Christmas and New Year. Ended school the first week of May.

4 - What do you remember about your first day of school. We took pictures on the front step and we got new backpack and lunch box for school year. We would also get new shoes but Mom would not let us wear them outside until school started.

5 - Tell about the school bully. I went to country school until 8th grade so we didn't have one. We all had a lot of fun and got along great. The older boys were always so much bigger and they would be bossy but not in a bully type way.
