June 28 - July 4

Monday June 28th Rachel started volleyball camp in Ogallala. Thanks to my tribe of parents we each to a turn taking the girls and picking them up for the 3 day camp. Becca and Jaidyn stayed home and played in the morning while I ran to town and did some errands. Then that afternoon we went to Lisa's and made 4th of July shirts. Tuesday Rachel had camp again and we cleaned and packed the camper in the morning. Then we went to town in search of pop-its and went swimming at the country club.

Wednesday Rachel had her last day of camp in Ogallala and Becca and Jaidyn started their camp at the college. They had volleyball in the morning and basketball in the afternoon. I dropped them off and then went to Walmart and picked up some more things for the camper. Thursday the little girls had camp and Rachel and I cleaned the house.  Rachel then had Piano that afternoon and we picked up the girls from camp. That evening we went to Hershey to watch the fireworks and so the girls could swim at Jen's.

Watching from the car as the girls both think they are too loud in town

Friday the girls went to camp until Mike was done working. We picked up the girls and headed to Stuart in the new camper. We got to Stuart and got the camper set up just in time to go over to the rodeo and start day 1 of our 4th of July weekend. Saturday Mike went golfing with the guys while we went to the cabin for Granny's beach party. This is one of my kids favorite 4th of July events. They love playing with their cousins and making their own hot dogs and s'mores. After the beach party we came back to town and the kids played at the house while Nicky and I ran over to Jerry and Sharon's to see distant cousins that were in town for Larry Addison's burial. Mom and I then went and picked up BBQ sandwiches and after dropping some off for the kids and Mike we took some out to Uncle Jim and Button's. Button's had knee surgery and was not getting around very good so we took sandwiches out to them and visited for just a little while. We then came back to town for fun night at the auditorium, cruise night and just hanging out on the lot.

Sunday we got up and had a quick breakfast before walking over to the parade. After the parade we all came back to the lot to make lunch and eat. Then most the guys went golfing while we took the kids to the park for the races. After the races at the park we went back to the lot for awhile before going downtown for the duck races and ice cream at the bar. That night some went to the stock car races and some stayed at the lot. I went to the races for awhile with Chris and Kate then we went back to the lot and waited for dark for the fireworks to start.

Becca does not like the fireworks so she just went to sleep

Stuart 4th of July is always a great weekend. So nice with everything going on in the world to return back home and let my kids enjoy the things I also enjoyed at their ages. They also get to spend the time with cousins and second cousins and aunt, uncles, great aunts, and great uncles.

June
28 - Tell about your first very own car.  Green Dodge Stratus. Got it in the summer of 1999 before leaving for college at UNK.
29 - Did you ever have or make a swing? We had 2 swing sets at our house
30 - Tell about seeing something you thought was very beautiful. I have always enjoyed a sunset

July
1 - Describe an outside game you made up. We played outside a lot. Mostly house but a lot of pretend play while outside.
2 - Describe an inside game you made up. Having only 3 channels growing up we played together making up games all the time.
3 - What kind of fireworks did people have when you were a youth? We usually did fireworks at the ballfield in Stuart. Dad and all the uncle's would bring them and set them off. Danny always had a bunch of fireworks but I never really liked to set them off.
4 - Tell about Independence Day traditions on your childhood. We always went to Stuart for the 4th of July. We would spend the day at the park by Jim and Linda's camper. We would go to the parade, the races in the park, and the stock car races at night. After the races there were always fireworks. The same things my kids get to enjoy today.
