Flooding!

Flooding is the story of the week here in North Platte. The flood waters from Colorado finally made it to town on Friday afternoon. They flooded the banks of Hershey around 1 pm and made it to North Platte around 3. We didn't see when the water first arrived but we have seen that water a lot in the last couple days. I have not gotten out and taken any pictures but there are many video's if you YouTube North Platte flooding.
Today has also been one year since we lost Grandma Kitty. I think about her a lot and know that she would love to be here to hold and kiss on baby Alec but I also know that she is so happy in heaven dancing every day and watching over us. I am convinced that Alec smiles so much in his sleep because of all the kisses her and Grandpa Kohle are giving him! We are very blessed to have some many people here on earth and also up in heaven watching over us and loving on the kids.
This week was not nearly as busy as the weekend ended up to be. Monday we dropped Rachel off at school and then I had to take Roger to the vet for his shots. Becca went to play at Hanna's house and Alec went to the vet with Roger and me. After the vet we went and picked up Rachel and came home to play and I worked on the computer. Tuesday was school and Jazzercise. After school we just came home and played. Wednesday was another day of school and Jazzercise. We also got some groceries that day and then came home after school. After last weekend I was ready to just come home and chill after school this week.
Thursday Rachel did not have school due to the potential flooding. So we all stayed home and played. I decided to experiment some more with our smoker and smoked a roast. It turned out really well and I am sure I will be smoking more things. Friday Hersey again cancelled school. Rachel does not have school on Friday's so it was not a big change for us. We decided it was time to get out of the house for a bit so the kids and I went to town and had lunch with Michelle. Can anyone guess where we went? Yep Gracie Mae's!
Friday night Kelly came to town to Rodeo. Jerry and Teresa also came down to watch. Mike has been on call all weekend so the girls and I dropped Alec off with neighbor Melissa before we headed to town to check out the river and to see Kelly rope. Kelly team roped on Friday night but missed her steer so the girls and I stayed until around 9 when the girls were done watching and came back to get Alec. Alec had a great time at Melissa's and must have enjoyed the peace of not having his sister's around because he slept almost the whole time. Melissa finally had to wake him up for a bottle around 9.
Saturday morning Kelly was roping breakaway so the kids and I loaded up and went to town. The river was a lot higher and expanding outside the north bank. We stop and picked up Rebekah then headed out to the rodeo grounds. Mike was able to make it out just before Kelly was up. She did amazing and roped her steer in 2.5 secs and made the short go Saturday night. After lunch at Margie's with Kelly, Jerry, and Teresa we came home to watch the Nebraska game. Shawn, Michelle, and Clark came out to watch the game with us. After the game was over we headed back to the rodeo. Michelle took Alec home with her.
Saturday night was another beautiful night for a rodeo and we even got to watch some of it from the sky box above the chutes thanks to our amazing neighbors! Kelly again caught her steer but not as fast so she didn't end up winning last night but had a very good rodeo weekend all together.
Today we went to church and then out to lunch before coming home for naps. This week will be short as we are leaving town on Thursday afternoon for Omaha. Rachel is very excited to see her cousin's and swim!
Happy Second Birthday tomorrow Rebecca Sue!!

Working on tummy time and getting that head up!
