Long Over Due

I know this is going to be long and it is way past due. We have been busy here at the Simonson house and on the road. This update will be just that: an update and hopefully tomorrow or the next day I will get on and actually put up some pictures. So here we go!
The last week of September was a sad week for me as one of my best friends; Kevin lost his dad and I traveled to Lincoln for the funeral. It was so nice to be able to spend some time with mom as she met me in Grand Island and attended the funeral as well. Monday and Tuesday last week were spent getting ready for Labor Day weekend knowing that I would be gone all day on Wednesday. Monday we went to Jazzercise, got the oil changed in the suburban and went to Walmart. Tuesday we had an LCMA meeting in the morning and then came home for cleaning, naps, and laundry.
Thursday morning Mike was able to take Rachel to school so I could finish laundry, and get the house in order so we could leave early Friday morning. Friday we took off mid morning and headed to Deadwood. We had to drop off some things and Aaron and Liza's and some buns at Tim and Laurie's in Valentine. Then we meet up with Pat and Wanda for lunch before making a couple more stops before we arrived at our hotel in Deadwood. It was almost bed time by the time we arrived so after a couple laps of running around for the girls it was off to bed.
Saturday we got up and had breakfast before we took the kids swimming. The pool at the hotel was amazing for the kids. It had a couple water slides and was zero entry and shallow enough all the way to the pirate ship that Alec was able to play without much help. That was until he found out he could go down the water slides by himself, then it got a little hectic trying to catch him on whichever slide he climbed up to. After swimming Rachel hung out with Wanda while I gave Alec and Becca naps. After the husker game we all got ready and went to the Wedding reception. The kids had fun dancing and running around and slept well Saturday night.
Sunday we got up and packed up the room. After Breakfast in Rapid City with Aaron, Liza, Sean, Ash, Pat, and Wanda we headed to Valentine. When we got to Valentine we joined the Kohle side for some swimming and playing by the river. The girls had fun floating and playing in the river and Alec enjoyed crawling around in the grass. When a storm suddenly came up we packed everything up at the river and headed to Tim and Laurie's house. We spent Sunday night in Valentine and enjoyed a nice tour of Tim and Laurie's new house before heading to Aaron and Liza's for the afternoon. We got home late Sunday night and by the time Rachel finished her school work from missing school on Friday we were all ready for bed.
Tuesday Rachel was back to school and still tired from the weekend so we had a hard time getting everyone moving. While Rachel was in school I did laundry and cleaned up my garden. A lot goes on in a garden over 4 days and I had some work to do! Wednesday we went to Jazzercise and Walmart while Rachel was in school. Thursday was school picture day. Rachel was very excited to get her hair curled for pictures and she looked so good in her purple shirt and black skirt. We went to Jazzercise Thursday morning and then came home for naps and more laundry. Yes I do laundry most days; I am still not sure how mom did it with 5 of us. Friday morning I had a meeting at the school and then we came home. Rachel and I were going to have a mommy and Rachel night but Mike got stuck doing a late case so instead Rachel got to stay up and watch a movie with Mike and I. Becca did not nap so she fell asleep early and we didn't even have a fight that Rachel got to stay up.
Rachel got to serve Mike and I ice cream in cones and she thought that was pretty neat. I told her that I thought she should start helping me more around the house with cleaning and cooking. She looked at me and said, "Do I have to be Cinderella? All the cooking and cleaning? I would like to be Cinderella, but more the princess not the part where she works all the time!"
Saturday we got up and packed up and headed to Lake McConaughy to spend the day with the Raatz family. The girls had fun playing with Hanna and swimming in the lake while Alec enjoyed just being outside in the dirt all day. Dutch was not feeling the best so he and Alec did not play much but they had some fun together. Alec really spent most the time climbing up and down the camper steps.
Sunday Rachel and I decided to have our mommy and Rachel day while Mike took Alec and Becca to visit Grandma Wanda, Grandma Priest, Auntie J, Sherri, and Larry. Rachel and I went to church and then to lunch at Margarita's. After lunch we went to Cody Park for art in the park. We did find 2 Christmas presents so overall it was a great trip. Rachel got to have all my attention and enjoyed being able to do some fun things without her sister. After our outing we picked up Mike and the little ones and I came home and mowed while Mike did a little more Daddy care taking care of Alec while I was mowing. After I got cleaned up we made popcorn and some snacks for our Movie night. We watched Dolphin Tale getting ready for Dolphin Tale 2 to come out in a couple weeks.
