August 2 - August 8

Monday we stayed home and worked on the house and laundry in the morning then I ran to town and picked up a bike rack from a friend for our vacation. Tuesday we had all the kids Dr and dentist appointments. Rachel got contacts and her vision got a little worse and she was on -1.5. Becca and Alec left without glasses. We then went to the Dr. office for school physicals. Everyone checked out great. Rachel and Alec had lab work done. Rachel for her 7th grade physical and Alec due to excessive bathroom use and night wetting at times. We just wanted to check to make sure we were not missing anything. His blood work looked good and he had a much better year at school. We then ran to Menard's for a few things before coming home and packing the camper.

Wednesday I had a facial in the morning then I had to take Becca to the dentist to fix her retainer. That evening I attended the weekly mass in Sutherland before meeting up with Father and the other DREs for our yearly meeting to set up times and dates for the upcoming CCD year. Thursday we all had dentist appointments. No cavities and no other visits needed except for Becca's continued monthly retainer checks. After the dentist we ran to Walmart for food and last minute things for the camper. We then came home to pack clothes for our 10 day vacation.

Grandma Tielke shows up when needed

Canned some pickles before we left
Friday Mike had to work until noon then we took off for Clear Lake. It is 530 miles and took us around 8 hrs. Since we had the camper we only stopped for gas and made good time. It was actually not too bad to drive through the city. We got to the camp site just before dark and got set up for the night. We really didn't have to set up much as Kate and Justin have a permanent spot that they camp in all summer. Night #1 went okay after we got Alec cleaned up from his nighttime bike wreck. He fell over his handlebars and split his top lip. Luckily I travel with a couple first aid kits!
Saturday we got up and the guys took the kids out fishing on the boat. We then went to town for lunch and walked through the car show in town. The kids got to go to the thrift store and find some gifts. We then went back to camp to hangout. The kids rode bikes and Kate twisted her ankle. We were off to a good start. Then we couldn't go a day without a bike wreck so Becca wrecked her bike. When Alec wrecked the night before he got up and rode his bike, dripping blood and all back to camp. When Becca wrecked the girls had to come get us and some poor camping couple had picked her up off the road and had her at their camp site with a drink and ice by the time we got the golf cart there. Day #2 was complete with dirty kids and scars to come home with.

Ice Cream truck!

Sunday we went to town for breakfast before going back to camp to start making ribs for supper. We just spent the day hanging out. More bike riding, no one wrecked. More fishing, a few more drinks and just time together!

August
2 - Describe your childhood home.  Same house my parents still live in. When we were little it was a 3 bedroom 1 1/2 bath home with a shower and unfinished basement. Then we finished the basement and made an actual bathroom and 3 bedrooms. We then added on another living room and took out one of the upstairs bedrooms to make the dinning room bigger.
3 - What would be your best piece of advice for living? Live each day with no regrets.
4 - Tell of an experience climbing a mountain or big hill. I don't care for heights but Mike and I took all 3 kids hiking at Estes Park when Alec was 1. It was fun to see the girls get excited the higher we went. We had a hill next to our silage pit growing up that we climbed and played on often as well.
5 - Tell a memory about having company at your house, or of a family party. Dick and Madge Cleary and family came out to our house to play cards often. Patsy would stay on weekends sometime with us and most the time at Grandma and Grandpa Kohle's. Mom and Dad have had a couple anniversary parties at our house and they were some of the best!
6 - Tell about board games you played as a child. We played Sorry, Checkers, Chutes and Ladders, and Candy Land.
7 - Tell about card games you played. Slap Jack, Go Fish, War. Then as we got older we learned Euchre.
8 - Tell your All - Time Favorite as a child
TV Show- Save By the Bell
Song - Butterfly Kisses - Collin Ray
Color - Blue (and still is)
