July 26 - August 1

Monday July 26th was the day Alec had been waiting for and was also so nervous. He has been watching Jaxson play in parts of the Jr Ambassador Tournament for many years and it was finally his turn. We had a great day of golf on Monday at River's Edge. It was a little warm but not too bad. Alec shot a 68 on his 9 hole round. That night for slug fest his team did not win but Jameson and Kole's team did so that was fun. Elly came over to hangout with Rachel and spend the night, Becca was at Mom and Dad's so the big girls had the house to themselves.

Warming up for Day 1

Best Part of the end of a golf day

Playing in Slug Fest and still happy

Alec, Kole, Peyton, Schyler, Jameson, and Gavvyn
Tuesday was Day 2 and Alec was ready. By about hole 5 he was slowing down and getting really tired. Thankfully I had a snickers and some jerky to get him over the hump and he finished they day. He got 4th place in his age group and was excited to get a trophy. It was a great 2 days of golf. After everyone finished golfing for the day we came home and I mowed before calling it a night.

Even if you golf you still have to get the gate for mom

Mike also got a trophy for doing 100 Robotic Cases
Wednesday we cleaned up the house from all our guests and Rachel and Alec enjoyed a day of relaxing while I went and got my hair done. Becca was enjoying her time in Atkinson with some time at the shop with mom, an afternoon with Sandi and the kids and some time with Jaidyn. Thursday I had a massage in the morning then I picked up the kids and we went to Pals for lunch with Pat and Wanda. That night we just all relaxed. Friday morning Wanda had surgery to remove her right breast due to cancer. She had a good surgery and everything looked good. Aaron, Nick and family came to stay. Mike stayed home with them but the kids and I had already planned to go to Lincoln for a memorial baseball game for my cousin Damian. So that afternoon Rachel, Alec, and I took off. The Lincoln baseball team was not the best and we had a rain delay so the game took forever, but it was fun to hangout with cousins and Becca was very excited to see us again. Becca got a ball from a player, then during the rain delay it fell out of a bag and some boy took it, so many tears later we bought a baseball. Becca was then telling her story to one of the security guards by the team lockers and one of the players overheard the story and got her a new baseball. That night we put the kids to bed and went downtown with Mom and Dad.

Fireworks were one of Damian's favorite things

Saturday the kids and I got up early and headed back to North Platte as Mike's family was all in town and Wanda was getting out of the hospital. When we got back to town the guys were working out south so Melissa and I took the kids to Cody Park. We then grilled hamburgers and steaks for everyone at our house.

Sunday Alec went to Grand Island with his friend Parker. They went to the Trampoline park and had a great time.  The girls and I went to church and then to lunch. We then dropped Rachel off at Sarah's for a sleepover before stopping by Claire Schaffer's birthday party. Mike stayed home to mow and grade the road. Alec got back that evening and we watched a little TV before getting everyone to bed.

July

26 - Share a special memory about riding in a boat. We didn't have a boat growing up so the first boat ride I remember is riding the ferry to Arnold's Park in Okoboji for Tielke family vacation. When I was in x-ray school and lived with Kevin, Kevin had a boat and we would take it out skiing. I was much better at wake boarding than skiing.

27 - Tell about a family vacation trip. A couple of summers before Grandpa Tielke had a stroke we would go to Okoboji with the whole Tielke side. We would stay for a couple days and just hangout. Then Dad and each of his siblings got to take turns going to the cabins after Grandpa got sick and I remember a couple of trip there with just one or two of dad's siblings.

28 - Share the best vacation experience you can recall. I always loved the Tielke family vacations, because there were always lots of babies for me to help take care of. My best vacation ever before marriage would have to be my trip to Europe in the summer of 1998. We flew out of Omaha, went to Munich, Germany, then took a bus through Austria to Paris, France, then rode a boat across the English Channel to London and flew home. We were gone for 7ish days over my birthday. It was a great trip!

29 - Share the most unpleasant vacation experience you can recall. When Jaxson was a baby we went to Okoboji with Mike and Joy and after being gone all weekend we headed home and dad made us drive 35-45 minutes out of the way to go eat at a hole in the wall bar. Jaxson was tired and crabby and I still had to drive back to Omaha after we got home and it was a long wait for food and took forever!

30 - Do you have any other memories about a river, lake, or beach to share? In high school I would go camping in Long Pine with my boyfriend and his brother. After Mike and I got married and had Rachel we went to Mexico for vacation and since then we have taken a bunch of trips with friends.

31 - Tell a memory about riding on a ferry, bus, train, or plane. When we went to Europe we took all of these modes of transportation.  I remember the plane ride being very long and it the dark the whole time. The bus was mostly used for sleep as we had to get up very early each day and got back to our hotels late at night. The trains smelled like puke and the ferry across the channel was cool as it had an indoor dinning area and looked like a cruise ship.

August 1 - Share another memory about a ride. When we were little and we would go on car trips with cousins Dad would get a bag of peanut M&Ms and he would give us each one and we would have a contest to see who could keep it in their mouth the longest without melting the chocolate all the way.
