March 29 - April 4

Monday I took the kids to school then ran to Walmart. After Walmart I came home and worked out then cleaned the house. After school Chad and Parker (Mike's cousin and daughter) came out for supper. We enjoyed visiting with them on the deck before supper and just catching up. Tuesday I took the kids to school then went to the funeral home for family visitation time. At noon I picked up Bree from preschool and dropped her off at daycare before coming home to get a few things done before picking kids up from school. After school Rachel had Piano at 4:30, Alec had soccer at 5, and then Rachel had soccer at 5:30. I was at the funeral home so Wanda and Janice could run some errands so Mike ran the kids around before bringing them to see Grandma Priest.

Grandma Priest was the girls first babysitter when we moved to town. Becca was born on the 23rd and Mike wanted to take me out for our anniversary on the 29th, so at 6 days old we dropped the girls off for Phyllis to watch while we grab a quick dinner. From that day on the kids and I would drop in to see her on occasion. Her box of toys from when Mike was little was always the first thing drug out. They also enjoyed her puzzle board. She was always up for a lunch date and always had a hug for each of the kids. When we left she was always at the window. Her and I had many conversations about her family and friends. She is missed so much. The last few months were hard on everyone as her mind slipped farther away and she struggled with the thoughts of strangers coming and going in her home and apartment. She was strong until her final days and I know that she is was ready to see Hermel, her son Rusty and daughter Rita again.

Wednesday the kids went to school until lunch time then I picked them up to go to the funeral. We first had lunch at the Berean Church and then the funeral was at 1:30. After the funeral we drove to Tryon for the burial. That evening Becca had soccer practice at 6:45 and when we got home we noticed that Roger was having trouble with his ear again. Grandma's service was very nice and the church was full. The coffin she was buried in has been in our shop for about 3 years. She knew the guy that made the coffin and he was going out of business but she really wanted a cedar coffin from him so she went out one day and bought it. She wanted to put shelves in it and have it in her home. Rita told her if she had her coffin in her house she would not visit! So we stored it for her.

Priest Cousins

Thursday I subbed in the high school. After school the kids came home to relax while Mike and I went to Pal's for a get together with Mike's office PAs. Then we stopped by the RV park on the way home to see our friends Doug and Beth from Med school. They were passing through on their way back to Minnesota from the Grand Canyon. Friday Mike went to Cozad and I packed up the camper after taking the kids to school. After school we loaded up and headed to the ranch to celebrate Pat's 70th birthday and Easter with the Simonson's.

Saturday morning we had breakfast at the ranch then headed to Stuart for the Easter Egg hunt at the park. We visited the cemetery and hung out outside the town house before going out to Mom and Dad's for supper. The kids had fun making deviled eggs and playing with cousins.

Sunday we went to church and then went back out to mom and dad's for lunch. It was so nice that we were able to eat outside. Due to Covid and kids being back in school everyone did their own thing for Easter Day instead of gathering at the house in town for lunch. It was such a fun weekend finally seeing everyone again.
