October 29 - November 4

Each year the kids try to come up with a theme for Halloween. Some years they have all been from the same movie or show and some years they just can't all agree. Well this year we decided to all be characters from the same movie. Mike and I had an event for the hospital to attend and Mike was off for Halloween this year so we thought why not all dress up! Guardians of the Galaxy was the theme this year. We have seen both the movies and everyone in the family loves them.
Monday the kids had school and I ran to Walmart. After picking Alec up from school we had lunch at Michelle's and Alec and Ashylnn played. Mike was off early so we came home and Alec and Mike were able to spend some time outside playing baseball. I ran to the school and attended a presentation with Becca's class. It was called ROAR and it talked about appropriate and inappropriate touching and talking towards other kids bodies. They talked with the kids about hugging, touching, and secrets. The thing I liked the most is that they told all the kids at they should not keep or tell secrets. They can tell and talk about surprises but if someone tells them a secret that could harm or be hurtful to someone else they need to tell and adult that they trust. After the presentation I ran to town and Lisa helped me with my hair for the costume party. Justin Jorgensen came over to watch the kids that evening while Mike and I attended the Dr. Appreciation night at PAL's.
Love seeing this!

Thanks Lisa

Here are the characters we dressed up as!
Tuesday I took the kids to school and then went to coffee with some friends and listened to Judy Pederson talk about why she was running for legislature and why we should vote for her. After picking Alec up from school we stopped my Traci's to pick up a desk and dresser that she no longer wanted in her house. Alec loves them now we just need to get him a different bed so his room is not so crowded! We came home that afternoon and played outside and did yard work. That evening we made Alec's treats for his Halloween party.

Alec was so proud of the treats he made!

This is what happens when Alec wants to create something.
Wednesday was the most anticipated day over the last couple months. The kids were all up early to get into their costumes as they get to wear them to school! We had hair and makeup to do and we still had to be out the door on time! After picking Alec up from school we went to Hershey for the costume parade and to help with drinks for Becca's class party. The kids then went trick or treating at CCD before we headed to town for more trick or treating. We went to Stacy's and Lisa's before heading to Michelle's for supper and to trick or treat with all our friends. We ended the night by stopping by Vince and Traci's. Halloween is always so fun but so hard when it is during the week!

Thursday the kids we slow getting ready but everyone made it to school on time. I ran some errands in town while Alec was in school then we came home and did some house work and I worked out. After school we went to town for supper before taking Becca and Alec to Lisa's while Rachel and I attended church for All Saints Day. After church we picked up the little ones and came home for bed. Mike had a meeting and didn't get home until the kids were in bed but was able to go to dinner with us before church. Friday the girls had school and I worked on the house and laundry most the day. Grace came over to play after school and then we all sat down and had a movie night to end the crazy week.

Saturday we just had a lazy day at home. We went to church and out for supper Saturday night as Rachel had a volleyball tournament in Brady on Sunday. The kids played great again and won a couple game in the round robin. We then had to switch gyms and they got kind of confused on the lines and all the noise and ended up losing their first tournament game. This was the end of the season for these girls. Overall they improved a bunch, learned that they have to work hard all the time, and had lots of fun. After the tournament we came home and hung Christmas lights on the fence. I always try to hang them in November when the days are nice. The kids love helping and it makes it go so much faster. We had a great afternoon playing outside and just being together!
