March 11 - March 17

Monday March 11th Becca was running a fever and stayed home from school. Rachel and Alec both went to school and fine. Becca was much better by that afternoon and I wonder if she was really sick or just really tired? After Alec got done with school we came home and I worked on the computer and did some laundry. Rachel had Girl on the Run after school and we grilled hamburgers for supper.
Tuesday I took the kids to school then ran to Walmart. Alec went home after school with Stephanie so I could go get my hair cut early and get home so the delivery people could deliver our new nordictrack equipment. So far we have had it 2 weeks and love it. Mike had even done some of the video's that come with it and he is not a huge fan of videos. I have been using it on the days I don't run and love that it is easy to use and gives me a great workout. That night we eat an early dinner of spaghetti and then Alec and I went to Kindergarten orientation. Alec has been waiting for this day for a whole year. He is so excited to start Kindergarten and be a Hershey Panther!

So excited to be a Panther
Wednesday I took the kids to school then had coffee with Capri. We enjoyed catching up and visiting without the kids running around. I then picked up Alec and we took lunch to Mike at the office. It was raining and Alec was excited to use an umbrella to help keep us dry. The only thing was that he and I are not very good at sharing an umbrella. They cancelled GOTR and CCD that night due to the rain and snow coming in. Thursday was one of the worst days for many people in the state of Nebraska. With 3-4 inches of rain on top of the frozen ground the ice damns in the Niobrara River broke loss and took out the Niobrara Power plant and Angel's Straw Bale Saloon. The river flooded most of the small towns around the river, including Lynch, Niobrara, and Naper. The water then continued down stream breaking levee's in Columbus and Fremont. Norfolk evacuated half the town but their levee held. Columbus and Fremont both were locked in as the flood waters took out all roads leading into and out of these towns. For much of Nebraska this is one of the worst natural disasters in history. It will take many years for roads and bridges to be rebuilt. Mom and Dad's road washed out and they had to go north around to Atkinson for a couple days. Katie said the river got up to the corals but not close to the house. Nicky and Clay had standing water all over the yard but nothing effecting the house. Many people around the state will never forget the Bomb Cyclone of 2019. Along with the flooding in the north and east, western Nebraska had 18 inches of wet snow and 70 mile an hour winds which closed the Interstate for 2 days from Kearney to the Wyoming boarder. Many ranchers lost cows and calves under all the snow. Nebraska had great losses this week but many communities have came together to help and the towns are slowing cleaning up and figuring out what can be kept and how much loss their really is. Thursday for us was a late start for the girls due to flooding on some of the country roads. So we took Alec to town for school and then the girls. Walker road has been a huge mess since the rain as the pot holes and sink holes get worse each day. They are trying to patch it but with all the warm and cold days nothing is really holding. Rachel had a dentist appointment after school on Thursday and then we came home and had dinner before Mike went to play volleyball and the kids went to bed.

God's beauty showing through
Friday the girls had school and Mike went to Mullen for a funeral. Becca had soccer practice that evening and then I surprised the kids with a movie date to see Wonder Park. After the movie we came home and played before bed. Saturday we cleaned and worked on laundry. The kids were so excited to see the sun they played outside most the morning. Addilyn came to babysit that evening while Mike and I went to town for Josh Cox's birthday and Traci Dugan's birthday. We had a great time seeing friends and having a night out. Jensyn and Delcey came here to play and we got a ride to town with Jen and Deon.

Love that they want to be outside.

Happy Birthday Traci

Mike, Trisha, and I at the end of the night
Sunday the girls and I got up and went to church while Mike and Alec stayed home to work on moving the dog kennel. After church we all changed clothes and worked out in the shed. We ended up making an outside dog kennel on the cement by the swing set and then a dog door and kennel on the inside so the dogs can now have an outside and inside area. Rachel had volleyball that afternoon and then we watched a movie before bed.
