March 30 - April 5

Monday March 30th we entered into our second full week of online learning. The newness was wearing off and some days the kids are able to sit down first thing in the mornings and knock everything out by lunch and others I have learned we just have to walk away for a bit and come back after a break. The nice weather has made it great for going out and taking a walk. Becca is still struggling the most, she really misses her teacher and classmates. She gets super frustrated with herself and starts to cry which makes me mad. I just don't understand the pressure and stress she causes herself for no reason (in my head). Through all of this we really have learned to just walk away, get up and take a minute to get our minds right and come back to the problems. On Monday morning I had to take the aerator back so I decided to stop by one of the flower shops and pick up their take and make package. The kids were very excited to make some Easter flowers and it was a great opportunity to make something to take to Grandma Priest. So Monday when I got home from town we arranged flowers and then started in on our school work. The other thing I have learned since starting home learning, is that the kids and I are way better at doing work before noon. If we are not finished and take a break for lunch it will take us all afternoon to complete the last 30 minutes of work.
Our new learning environment

Tuesday we got going with our work first thing in the morning and everyone was done by noon. The kids enjoyed building a fort on the deck and studying some outside. It was such a nice day we enjoyed going for a run, bike ride, and just playing outside all afternoon.
Since we are all trying to stay home since Mike is still going to the hospital the kids are not seeing friends. We have let Rachel and Elly see each other since Trisha and Mike both work at the hospital. The rule is that they have to stay outside and stay far enough away that they can't sneeze on each other. So they have been meeting up in the field with lawn chairs to hangout!

Wednesday April 1st was April Fools day. We didn't play any pranks on each other, but Rachel's class talked about them on her call. The teacher also pranked them and told them they have tests in each subject to complete online for the day. She then emailed them after the meeting and told them April Fools! When our friend Stacy had Gracie Mae's here in town each year for April Fools she would make a ton of different kinds of food look like actual food, but it was all cookies and cakes. So this year she made a few for a couple families. We picked ours up when we went to North Plate, we got pizza, hamburger, chicken nuggets, and fries.  On Wednesday we went to Hershey to Alec's teachers Mrs. Johnson's house to pick up some papers for the rest of the year and drop off his report card. We then stopped by the church to pick up the CCD books and then went to north platte to run some quick errands. We picked up Jimmy Johns and came home to play outside.

Thursday we did our school work and then just played around the house most the day. It was freezing rain outside and Mike got home early. We all sat down and played Rachel's new Harry Potter clue game that afternoon. Big Bekah sent Rachel's gifts early which included a Harry Potter Clue game and a Harry Potter Trivia game. We all love the clue game but none of us know Harry Potter trivia like Rachel as she is the only one that had read all the books.  Friday I ran Rachel to town to Dr. Murdock to get her warts frozen again, Dermatology is not seeing patients right now and I didn't want to go another month without freezing as the warts seem to be growing so fast so Rachel and I ran to the family practice Dr. We then stopped to get ice cream on our way home. When Mike got home he picked up Becca and they went to Paxton to look as some auction items. Then then came back and Mike and Alec headed out south to work on the fence at the Simon Ground. We enjoyed crab legs for dinner that night and the first Harry Potter movie.
Saturday I slept in and then worked on the blog and a couple other things on my computer. Mike worked outside all day including tuning up my lawn mower for the upcoming mowing season. That afternoon the neighbor and one of our babysiter's that now works at Double Dips surprised the kids with ice cream. They were so excited and we are very thankful for Alana.

Sunday we listened and watched church on Facebook live, then Mike wanted the kids and I to go on a run with him. He may have underestimated the wind as when we got around the corner the kids could hardly pedal their bikes and so we turned around and came back. The kids and I then did a scavenger hunt for national Autism Awareness Day that my aunt Becci sent us. I then went to town for my Walmart pickup and then came home and we all enjoyed the second Harry Potter movie.
