Negril, Jamaica January 11 - January 19

NEGRIL! The kids long awaited Christmas present was finally coming together. We started out vacation on Friday with an overnight stay in Denver. We had everyone up and going on Saturday morning at 4 am. The kids were so excited to get this day started the got up great and we got downstairs to meet the bus a little early. We got to the airport and the lines for check in were not open yet so we stood in line. The kids found out that this day was going to be about a lot of hurry up and wait. We finally got everyone checked in and to our gate. It was time for some breakfast and boarding the first flight. Everyone did great, we landed in Atlanta with some time to grab some lunch and hit the restrooms before boarding our flight to Jamaica. We arrived in Jamaica and the kids got to see what a third world county airport was like. Luck for us Beaches had a private reception area to wait and after about 20 minutes we were on a bus to the resort. The down side to Negril was we had to fly into Montego Bay and then bus to Negril which was about a 90 minute ride. I was worried Becca was going to get car sick, so we sat her in the front and she fell asleep! Alec also slept after asking about a million questions. We finally arrived at the resort, Kate and Justin had already check in so Justin came and got the kids and took them to find Kate and the kids. Mike and I got us checked in. We then went to our room for the night (we changed rooms after the first night to be closer to Kate and Justin). The room was nice, it was all one big room, but had a day bed with trundle and then another pull out chair for the kids, and a nice king size bed for Mike and I. We then went and found the kids at the ocean. Little did we know that the jelly fish come out at dusk. The kids found out the hard way, Alec got stung on the belly and Hanna the leg. Luckily is just was a little itching and red for about an hour.  We then all got showered and headed to dinner. Everyone was tired after a long day of travel so we all hit the bed and had a great night of sleep.

The first of many night time shows!

Playground outside our rooms.
Sunday we had a cabana by the ocean and the kids played all day. The boys did go to Kids club for a couple activities but then joined us at the beach and for dinner that evening. Kate and I decided to let the girls get their hair braided and it was the best decision. No crying or whining about brushing hair the whole trip and they always looked cute in pictures. The boys decided they were going to have a night cap each night which was time in the hot tub with drinks. The little boys thought it was so cool!

Thursday was Mike's 40th Birthday! We rented a boat for the afternoon so we ate a late breakfast and packed our bags for an afternoon the the boat. It took us past the town, to Bob Marley cave, another cave to snorkel in, then to a bar for some cliff diving. Mike and Justin both dived while Kate and I kept the kids on the boat. We then drove home at sunset! What a great way to celebrate Mike's birthday. We ended the night with Mike playing Family Feud and a White night dance party!

Friday we had our last cabana and beach day as we had to leave for Denver on Saturday. We enjoyed the last day with finding shells that ended up being clams and just soaking up the sun!

Friday night we also took Family and Friends pictures!

We Called Becca Jada all week! (She looked like Karate Kid)

Our last night together was a blast. We all partied the night away at white night and then got a good night sleep. We left a couple hours before Kate and Justin so we got up early and had our last breakfast as a family before getting on a bus to take us back to the airport. We went through Atlanta again with a little more time before flights, which gave the kids and I a chance to get some homework done. We then got into Denver that evening and to our hotel and got everyone a final night of vacation sleep.

Sunday we got up early in Denver and headed home. We got home around noon and worked on some more homework before going to church at 5:30 and then coming home for a movie night.
We had the best vacation ever and I hope it is one the kids will remember for a very long time. We enjoyed each day as a family, with the best friends, in a place that was just the right fit for us all!
