Happy Thanksgiving week! Normally we would be getting ready to head out of town since Mike was not on call for Thanksgiving but with the Covid numbers still rising and all the other things going on we decided to just stay home. There were a lot of people in this world that cooked their first turkey this week. Not us, I cooked my first turkey when we lived in Columbia, okay I will admit I still have not cooked a whole raw turkey. I either buy a turkey breast of for the past few years here in North Platte I get smoked turkey's from the neighbor. They are my favorite and it is nothing for us to have turkey on a random week night.
Monday November 23rd I took the kids to school then came home for awhile to work around the house. I then went to town and grabbed a bite to eat before going to my facial appointment. I have to admit I have really enjoyed the facials I have gotten, the only thing I don't like is the whole face peeling about 3 days later. It just feels like your face is so dry and it is flakey. It only lasts about 24 hrs so it is not bad but just feel weird. After my facial I went to school and grabbed the kids. We came home and worked on homework and then had some dinner before Rachel had basketball at 6:15.
| Becca would have all the animals in the house all the time if I would let her. |
| Alec loves playing chess with Mike. |
Tuesday we all went to school early as I subbed for the high school PE teacher. Not one of my favorite teachers to sub for as very few of the high school kids actually want to do anything. After school we dropped off Becca and Alec and Rachel and I headed to Piano. Rachel is working hard at piano but has less time to practice so this book is taking a little longer but she is over half way and is starting to play a few Christmas songs.
Wednesday the kids didn't have school as it was the start of their Thanksgiving break. We spend the morning being lazy and then we all went to work cleaning the house. Thursday we got up and started cooking. We made our pie crust from scratch and made 2 different types of pumpkin pie, we had corn, mashed potatoes, turkey, and stuffing. We ate a little after 1. The kids and I then went out and finished putting up Christmas decorations and Mike worked in the shop. That evening Mike, Becca, Alec and I went to Rocky and Robyn's to play card and hangout. Rachel wanted to stay home. She loves her alone time and enjoyed watching movies and playing legos.
Friday we were all really lazy. I talked on the phone with Patsy and got the Kohle calendar's ordered then enjoyed watching the Nebraska Game with Mike and Alec. After the game we got all our inside Christmas decorations put up. It goes so much faster when I have the girls to help.
Oh and ZigZag came back this year and brought along a new friend. The kids named him Buster and according to his story he collects Christmas cheer in a barrel around his neck and sends it to Santa so there is enough Christmas magic for his sleigh to make it all night on Christmas Eve!
