December 21 - December 27

Christmas week, my most favorite week of the year!! I am also caught up on my blog! This will be the first time in about 3 years that I will be able to finish the blog on December 31st and submit it to the book form! I will also at this time try to promise to keep up with the blog but we all know how that goes. I am hoping this week to get a bunch of stuff caught up in my office. The kids are outside playing in the snow now so it is quiet. I have not looked at the rest of my house except for a couple trips to the washer/dryer so I am sure there will be plenty to do once they come in! They often ask me if the reason I had kids was to do "my" work. I remember thinking the same thing about my mom, and as much as I want to tell them yes that is not the only reason I had kids, but it is a bonus!

Monday December 21st I went to town and attended a drive by diaper shower for a friend Molly. She was due to have her 4th baby girl any day and since we didn't want to get any of them sick before the big day we just dropped off gifts at the front door and stood outside and talked. It was good to catch up with friends before Christmas. I then ran a few errands before coming home to make sugar cookies with the kids. After the sugar cookies we also made peanut butter star cookies and then called it a day.

This boy also loves to read

Monday night was also the night that Jupiter and Saturn were supposed to be in line and create the star of Bethlehem. They did not quiet line up while we watched up it was cool to see them so close together. I also found out that I would not have ever found baby Jesus as I did not think it was the brightest star in the sky and would not have chosen that one to follow!

Jessie's favorite place to lay while we eat
Tuesday we relaxed in the morning then we started making almond bark covered pretzels, cheerios, and Oreos. We also made a few hot chocolate spoons. I had to go to town around 1:30 to get some last minute stuff for Christmas. We then did a Facetime Piano lesson for Rachel and then we went to Basketball practice. While Rachel was at practice Jen and I took down the Christmas decorations at the school.

Mike set a bag full of sandburs on my car seat!

It was too nice to read inside today
Wednesday we woke up to snow and the winds blew all day. The winds were so bad that it blew a section of the open front shed off and blew off some of our new shingles. We did not lose electricity which was nice since I spent most the day making cinnamon rolls.

Thursday we got up early and left the house so Heather could clean and we had a lot of deliveries to make before coming home to get ready for Christmas Eve mass. The kids were excited to get Dunkin Donuts and then we started delivering goodies. We ended our time in town with Qdoba before coming home to get ready. Alec was not feel very well that afternoon and Mike, Rachel, and Alec were waiting to come to church a little later than I had to be there when Mike text me that Alec had gotten sick. Becca and I came back and got Rachel and Mike and Alec stayed home. Alec felt so much better and was fine all night and since then. We are not sure what was wrong with him. Pat and Wanda came to enjoy Christmas Eve crab legs, oyster soup, and shrimp. We then enjoyed playing some cribbage and then it was time for bed so Santa could arrive!

Friday was finally Christmas Day. The kids all were very excited for all their gifts. Rachel opened one of her gifts from us first which had the books she had been wanting to read. She was so excited a few tears even fell and I got a big hug! Rachel was not as emotional about her phone but has not let it be far from her since she got it. Becca let out a loud scream when she found out Santa had given her and American Girl Doll, and Alec couldn't decide if his drone, gun, or guitar was his favorite. After gifts Pat and Mike headed south to check pastures, Wanda headed to her moms, and I finished making deviled eggs before we headed to Marty and Lisa's. We all enjoyed our lunch with Marty, Lisa, John, Matthew, Sydney, Peter, Kaiden, Teddy, Rebekah, Sam, Uncle Jim, and Buttons. We then opened some gifts and visited before coming back home so the kids could play with their gifts. Big B came out later that evening and gave everyone haircuts. She started with Becca and cut about 6 inches off, the rest of the family just got trims!

Saturday we just stayed home all morning. Mike went out south to sight in guns and cut some trees. The kids and I played their new Nintendo games and then Babs called and said they were going to go to church and then to Margarita's for supper so the kids and I got ready and headed to town. We enjoyed dinner with Marty, Lisa, Uncle Jim, Buttons, Matthew, Syd, Sam, and Babs. Babs then came out Saturday night and watched the new Pixar movie Soul with us. Sunday  I cleaned my office, Mike and Alec headed out south to cut more trees, Ella, Avery, and Elly came over to play. We ate an early supper of steaks and potatoes and then Rachel went to Ella T's for a sleepover. Alec and Becca had a sleepover in Rachel's bed and Mike and I watched a couple shows before going to bed
