August 7 - 13

Monday was a day of unpacking and taking it easy after vacation. Mike had to go back to work but the kids and I just took it easy at home. Tuesday Babs came out and Becca and I had an afternoon of school shopping and eating lunch together. That evening we enjoyed eating hamburgers on the deck. Wednesday Babs came out again and Alec and I went to town school shopping. It is a tradition I hope to continue each year, an afternoon one on one shopping and eating lunch. The kids don't get a lot of one on one time with me so this is always a special time with each of them. This year we had to pack it all into one week with our vacation but it was special just the same.

Of course he picked McDonald's
Thursday Bentley and Kyler came to play. I did some laundry and picked the garden. Matt and Trisha picked it while we were gone and took care of the cats and dog so the garden was not too bad but there was still plenty that needed taken care of. Thursday afternoon I canned pickles, banana peppers, and jalapenos. I also picked pepper and made stuffed peppers. It is so much fun making food for the table right out of the garden. The kids also helped me make apple crisp with apple from our apple trees. The last couple years the apple trees did not do well, but this year we had at least a dozen apple on.

Friday Becca went to play with Bree, Alec went to Lisa's and Rachel and I went shopping. We went home and played and organized school stuff that afternoon. Mike was on call so we just stayed home and watched movies that evening. Rachel had some fun while we were in Walmart!

Saturday I cleaned around the house. Mike was at the hospital working most the day. Rachel went to Cloe's and Maci came over to babysit so that Mike and I could go to Missy Thompson's birthday party. Sunday we went to Church and then picked up Rachel. Grandma Wanda, Grandma Priest and Auntie J came out to the house for lunch. I mowed in the afternoon and Rachel went to church with Lisa. Justin then came out and cut a wart off Rachel's foot. (We had it froze before vacation, but then it got infected and was growing so Mike and Justin cut it out and put in 4 stitches. Rachel did a great job but found out numbing medicine does not feel good, when going in. She also found out she would not be able to run or jump for 3 weeks.)
